NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION WATER QUALITY DIVISION SURFACE WATER AND PRETREATMENT OFFICE PUBLIC NOTICE Notice is hereby given that the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection ( Department / NJDEP) Proposes to Publish New Jersey Pollutant Release System (NJPDES) Important New Indirect User Permit (SIU) Action (NJPDES Permit # NJ0301931) in accordance with NJAC 7: 14A, and by the Water Pollution Control Act authority to NJSA 58: 10A-1 et seq., for discharge in Atlantic County Utilities Authority Wastewater Treatment Plant of: Applicant or Licensee: Facility: South Jersey Gas South Jersey Gas Florida Avenue Former MGP 1 site South Jersey Plaza 304 Turnpike Road Folsom, NJ 08037 Atlantic City, NJ 08401 South Jersey Gas (SJG) is addressing environmental impacts at the former manufactured gas plant site in accordance with to a gold Administrative Consent entered into by SJG and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Mental Protection on September 9, 1992, amended November 5, 1992. It is estimated that the current project will take 3-4 months to complete, during which time approximately 288,000 gallons per Day of sewage will be generated by remediation activities and discharged from the discharge point designated as DSN-001L at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority sewage treatment plant. Wastewater will be pretreated before discharge. The pre-treatment system consists of an oil / water separator, a bag filter, organic clay units, a sand filter and carbon adsorbers. Residues from the pre-treatment system will be disposed of off-site at a licensed solid waste facility. A draft new NJPDES Significant Indirect User License (SIU) action has been prepared for this facility based on the administrative record filed with NJDEP, 401 East State Street, Trenton, New Jersey 08625. Copies of the draft document are available, for a nominal price. and the administrative file is available for inspection by appointment only, Monday to Friday.
