National Youth Service Corps State Coordinators in the North East have been directed to improve the safety and welfare of both Corps members and personnel in the region.
Speaking in an initial meeting with the state coordinators, Northeast Area Office Director Baba Ladan also urged them to make deliberate efforts to solidify the issues binding the NYSC in the area.
Ladan stressed the need to secure ways to strengthen working relationships within the ranks.
He said, “The meeting will identify ways to promote program relevance to the grassroots to reinvigorate NYSC’s community development service and outreach activities.
“We would rub our minds in improving the welfare, safety and security of Corps members and personnel, consider some salient issues in policy implementation, deliberate on ways to permeate good leadership qualities, would guide the building of trust and patriotism in subordinate offices for effective service delivery, and assess the performance of secretariats, operational strategies, expected results and challenges”.
While commending them for their timely efforts to steer the affairs of the program in their various states, Ladan called on them to take advantage of the Director-General’s five-point policy guidance to come up with suggestions that would ensure sustainability. of the zone office in various fields. of its operations.
He added: “The responsibilities of the area offices are to ensure unity of command, to ensure effective monitoring, to strengthen the operational and administrative efficiency of the program at the local level in order to reduce the workload of the secretariats through the process of decentralization”.
