Curlies demolition continues under police protection

ANJUNA: The demolition of the Curlies’ controversial cabin continued for the second day in a row Saturday under police protection and in the presence of state officials.

On Saturday, demolition began at 8:30 a.m. and continued until 6:30 p.m. as most of the cabin survey numbers 42/9 and 42/11 were grounded after clearing furniture and fiber goods.

Much of the stage and the nightclub on the first floor of the hut were demolished. The demolition will continue on Sunday as we learn that it will take at least a week for the authorities to demolish the entire structure.

In the meantime, part of the restaurant on the first floor and half of the restaurant on the ground floor and the toilets in Inquiry No. 42/10 have been secured following the order of the Supreme Court. The authorities will proceed with the demolition of the sections of appraisals nos. 42/9, 42/11, 45/19 and 45/41 respectively.

The demolition is done manually by the workers as the earthmoving machinery cannot reach the site due to the lack of proper access.

SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi said, “So far more than 50% of the hut has been demolished. The campaign will continue on Sunday.
