Users are free to try a new email protection tool from DuckDuckGo, as the company recently rolled it out in beta.
While first rumored in 2021, DuckDuckGo revealed back then that it was going to be a great free and interesting option for email forwarding.
They added how it was designed to conceal all email ids whenever users wanted to sign up for its online service, newsletters etc.
Similarly, the tool also puts an end to artifact tracking that is prevalent in emails. Now that it is coming to beta, the famous internet privacy company claims that it can provide more protection by shielding all trackers hidden in web links.
We can see this new launch as one that sits halfway between classic email forwarding tools that route texts through users’ inboxes without displaying their addresses, and those tied to private email services such as Proton Mail.
The goal is to provide protection against the threat surrounding user profiling. This is done by hiding the identity of the user and overcoming the advanced tracking systems created by various advertising companies, web players and also the world of online retailers.
In a recent blog post published by the company, we saw them talk in detail about how companies are very sneakily adding trackers via images and links. These are embedded in email messages and can freely collect information by simply opening a text.
It could provide details such as where you were when you opened this text and what type of device you used as well.
Since your email IDs are literally tied to almost anything and everything online, like social media, work, and shopping, they can easily make the most of their tracking strategies.
With this new tool, users are allowed to produce personal and unlimited private addresses. These can even be the most random, as long as that’s what they want.
Every time a message arrives on these accounts, it will be stripped of any form of tracking. You can even disable the tool, if and when you want to stem the flow of spam to the inbox.
The biggest advantage of email protection is related to a very effective protection system against email tracking. You don’t need to switch providers or even manage multiple accounts if you don’t want to.
If you like the sounds of this one, feel free to sign up by heading to the app’s settings menu.
