Jaipur-Delhi-Agra E-Highway will be equipped with lightning protection system

  • NHEV collaborates with CIKIT to install Lightning protection systemthe at Jaipur-Delhi-Agra E Highway

Committed to providing a safer charging experience for commuters, NHEV has partnered with CIKIT to Design, supply and installation of a lightning protection system to all charging infrastructure on the Jaipur – Delhi – Agra highway. This partnership will enable India to fulfill its commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 2030 and improve the electric mobility experience on national highways. The project will be completed by the end of this year.

Kamlesh Sundar, Managing Director, CIKIT Electricals & Technologies India Pvt Ltd, said “CIKIT is proud to partner with the National Electric Vehicle Route (NHEV) to provide lightning protection infrastructure and grounding solutions for charging stations. We will partner with NHEV in their pan-India plan to improve the electric mobility experience. Our products are manufactured locally in India and are certified to Indian and international standards for a safe and secure charging solution.

“We specialize in securing infrastructures against lightning. The CIKIT solutions will make the project safe and secure, and also provide early warnings of possible environmental distress,” Mr. Sundar added.

Based on the exact location of charging stations, CIKIT will perform due diligence for key entry requirements by judging the frequency, extent and nature of lightning in the area. Input will be matched with the need and capacity of charging stations and related infrastructure for the design of a dedicated lightning protection and grounding system for EV charging stations.

Mr. Abhijeet Sinha, Project Manager of National Highway for Electronic Vehicles (NHEV) said: “The economic and human loss resulting from lightning is always a challenge, especially in large open spaces. This requires a robust system in place to fight. NHEV is committed to creating an ecosystem where the protection of EV infrastructure is of paramount importance. We have integrated specialized partners to meet specific needs. The association with CIKIT goes in the direction of creating a watertight framework for an ideal and safe EV infrastructure. This 500 km highway, connecting the Jaipur-Delhi-Agra section, with a total of 20 charging stations, will be transformed into a lightning safety zone by CIKIT.
