DURHAM, NC–(BUSINESS WIRE)–N-ableInc. (NYSE: NABL), the solutions partner that helps IT service providers deliver security, data protection, monitoring and remote management services,
today announced the launch of Cove™ Data Protection, the first cloud-based data protection-as-a-service (DPaaS) solution that modernizes data protection for enterprise-class backup and disaster recovery. This approach has never been more important as we witness a increase in cyberattacks1,including ransomware, both for managed service providers and internal IT organizations.
Today’s modern IT environment requires a solution like Cove, which was built from the ground up with a cloud-first architecture versus traditional local image-based backup products that added secondary cloud after the fact, which adds additional complexity. While cloud-based architecture has long been valued for reducing the cost and complexity of backup, practitioners have sometimes felt the need to maintain a second solution for disaster recovery. Cove fills this gap by combining cloud-based data protection with enterprise-class disaster recovery and long-term backup retention. It sits in a fundamentally different class among well-known legacy backup solutions, without the traditional high costs and built-in inefficiencies.
According to Joshua Wragg, President and Owner of NexusTech, LLC, “No one cares about a backup solution when it’s not needed, but when there’s a problem, it’s instantly the most important product. Cove’s reliability and thoroughness gives us everything we need to protect against all imaginable disasters for our servers and workstations. Not only have we experienced its sturdiness in action, but I can finally sleep at night.
An appliance-less, direct-to-cloud approach that removes “costly and unnecessary infrastructure that acts as a middle man,” helping partners scale as they grow and eliminating the need to “monitor backups”
Data protection for Microsoft 365 servers, workstations and data, all managed from a single screen
The ability to back up as often as every fifteen minutes, moving up to 60x less data compared to the first local backup, for dramatically improved recovery time and point objectives
A standby virtual server image in the location chosen by the partner for fast and flexible recovery options (now in preview/early access)
Fully managed cloud storage, with 30 data centers to keep backups stored in the region, to respect data sovereignty
“Today’s IT professionals have embraced a cloud-first IT strategy,” said Chris Groot, general manager, Cove Data Protection at N-able. “For example, years ago everyone had a Microsoft Exchange server on premises. Today, it’s rare to find a business that doesn’t use Microsoft 365. With Cove, we’re bringing that same concept to data protection.
“Image and appliance-based backup software solutions can create a huge administrative burden for IT professionals as they seek to streamline the cloud with their backup and disaster recovery needs,” Groot continued. . “Cove’s unique approach to offering true data protection as a service in the cloud delivers a premium service at a lower cost of ownership for our partners, along with comprehensive enterprise-class disaster recovery. ”
A recent report from leading analyst firm William Blair further highlights the shift in data management from traditional backup to a cloud-based “as a service” model to fully unravel reliance on against cumbersome and inefficient hardware and “eliminate the high complexity of installations, configurations and management required to make legacy data protection work.2
